Red Yeti 36hr Adventure race
The Red Yeti Journey
Angus Ross / 15.11.2005

A little coastaineering, a nice hill climb, and some dodging of sheep found team Aussie Bodies entering transition area (TA) 2 ahead by 40 minutes. A pancake and fried egg feed for unsupported teams and lots of good looking grub from bleary-eyed but cheerful support crews all around and it was back onto bikes. The first 4 teams found themselves abseiling down the Bluff as the sun rose over the water bringing with it a hot, clear day and renewed spirits. Teams pounded through Victor Harbour and up to Crows Nest lookout for the first glimpse of what was to come.
The field was starting to spread out and Aussie Bodies beat even their support crew to the next transition! A trek along an expanse of sand dunes in search of CP 10 proved to be a challenge for many teams as a building wind hurled sand and surf their way. A swim across the Coorong Channel was a refreshing oasis for teams crossing in the midday heat, but an icy darkness when midnight rolled around for the second time.
