Overnight temperatures fell to 0.5ºc on Hobart’s Mt Wellington, whilst wind gusts up to 70km/h were also reported. In the state’s central and north-west, early morning temperatures have hovered in the bone-chilling 0º-5ºc zone.
However, forecasts for the next few days predict day-time temperatures rising to a balmy 26ºc.
According to Race Director Craig Bycroft, these changeable conditions are what make Tasmania’s edition of XPD such an intriguing event.
“When we first highlighted Tasmania as a possible XPD location, we knew weather would play a huge part in the event, Bycroft said.
“But snow in February? You just can’t factor that into the equation- no matter how prepared you think you are!
