XPD Juggernaut Rolls Into Hobart

The unsupported element of the race adds a unique dimension for competitors. Teams will need to meticulously plan all their equipment and sustenance then pack them into trunks and bike boxes. These will then be moved to various points on the course for teams to rendezvous with.
It also requires an army of race officials and creates a logistical spiderweb of gear movement that will criss-cross the state. A staff of over 50 officials and volunteers is required to run and support the event. They will work on a rotating roster basis for 10 days, often working just as hard (if not harder!) than the competitors.
“An event of this magnitude just can’t be run without volunteer officials,� said Race Director Craig Bycroft.
“We’re unbelievably grateful to have over forty volunteers that have put their own lives on hold to come and help out,� he said.
“We’ve got volunteers from all walks of life and from all corners of the country, which should lead to some fantastic stories at the end of the race!�.
Sunday February 19 will see competitors take part in a Whitewater training day on the Upper Derwent River, before registration begins bright and early on Monday morning.
