Creativity Preceding the Pain to Follow
Lysanne de Graaf / 20.02.2006

To help divert their attention from some of the pain, frustration, monotony and boredom they will no doubt encounter at some stage during the race, they have started a list that they hope to keep adding to. They aim to come up with 101 Ways to Use A G-String in an Adventure Race. The list so far . . .
* shoelaces
* sunglasses strap
* sunhat for bald spot
* coin purse
* leki pole strap
* fly net
* tourniquet
* sling
* dust mask
* catapult to combat attacking wildlife
* compression bandage
* hair tie
* eye patch
* tow line
* . . .
Any suggestions can be sent as messages to the girls (and guy) via this website.
Also, stay tuned for team Hardtail in the Wild that plans to compose a re-worked Crowded House Medley with new and more appropriate verses to sing for the next 10 days of racing. Included will be ‘Four Seasons in One Race’ and ‘Six Hours In a Leaky Boat’.
Team ‘Neverest’ were overheard planning to visit the local cinema after all their gear has been handed in to officials at 3pm today and before the bus leaves for the race start at 10.30pm tonight . . . just to de-stress and settle some pre-race nerves and anxiety about their gear choices and race strategy.
