Possum Attacks Team ‘Team 4 Cancer’
Lysanne de Graaf / 24.02.2006

The story as told by team member, Simon:
\"It all started at 6.45 Friday morning. The weather was beautiful and the team were going strong on the bike leg and feeling good. At the exact moment Simon commented on how beautiful the day was, a possum launched itself from nowhere at rocket speed into the front fork of his bike which was travelling at 40kph, catapulting him through the air. As he flew through the air he saw a vision his recently broken collar bone breaking again . . .
Lots of skin off a forearm and front hip bone and some deep bruises that are sure to develop, and although badly jarred . . . the collarbone survived!!
Just as well there was Nurofen at hand. The team collected themselves and were back into their strong form again before no time. ‘Team 4 Cancer’ are stoked with their progess up the leader board since Corinna, overtaking several teams during the bike leg where they found their strength on the uphills was extremely advantageous.
Having battled with team ‘M.O.A.T.’ for much of the first part of the course they have now clearly broken away and they gained much motivation as during the night they overtook team ‘Mont Crank’, a team known for their strong cycling.
