Making Up Time
Lysanne de Graaf / 25.02.2006

Team ‘Maximum Adventure’ had also closed half an hour on ‘Whippet’ from when they had come into Mid-Camp, arriving at CP19 before ‘ATLAS’ left this TA by bike. ‘ATLAS’ was passed at high speed by team ‘Tangerine’ on the Mt Rolland leg, with that team coming close to gaining nearly 3 hours.
Also making up time like nothing else today has been team ‘OrionAdventure.com’. This foursome ran the 44km Overland Track hike leg, which encompasses a summit of Mt Ossa at 1617m, Tasmania’s highest peak. They have really been pushing themselves very hard, already having made the fastest time on the Mt Rolland leg. It’s looking like the foot sections are definitely their strength and summiting peaks obviously no obstacle to them.
Team ‘AROC Mountain Designs’ may not need to be making up time, but they continue to maintain brilliant time. So much so that after the Lake St Clair paddle and a comfortable hour-long transition at the Old Pumping Station, apparently they were enjoying meals and beverages at the Derwent Bridge pub only about 5km into this mountain bike leg!
