La Ruta De Los Conquistadores
It\'s Just Around the Corner for Páez!
05.11.2006

Páez, who is racing La Ruta for the first time, declared he felt this stage was easier, even with the small mechanical problem with his suspension and evidenced he is very excited about tomorrow. “I’ve been told tomorrow’s stage might be less difficult ... I will try to keep up, Paez said.
For Jeremiah Bishop, the path that leads to the town of Aquiares, just minutes from today’s finish line, proved to be his worst problem. Riding downhill through a coffee plantation on very dry terrain Bishop could not control his bike, crashed and fractured his nose. This probably cost him first place as the difference between him and Paez was only 4 minutes at the time.
The 20-year old Costa Rican Andrey Amador, finished third again. “This second day was as tough as the first, but shorter. The climb and consequently, the change in altitude presented a challenge, but I tried to keep up with “Lico Ramirez (forth place), who did great, but had several flats. I am not familiar with tomorrow’s course but I am planning to fight it!, Amador expressed.
