SleepMonsters reporter Wladimir Togumi has been looking into the strategy and rules of this years race ... and the exceptional ropes stage the teams will face. Here\'s a sneak preview of what lies ahead in EcoMotion Pro.

This year all teams will have 3 pre-determined CP’s at which they can complete 4 hours of mandatory rest to ensure competitor safety and make strategy a key element of the race more strategical.

The only requirement is that the stop must always be a multiple of 2 hours. Teams will be able to have a single stop of 4 hours or two stops of 2 hours and according to the race organization these CP’s are located long distances from TA’s and civilization, so the teams must be self sufficient.

Beyond these strategic options all athletes will need great skill on ropes. During the race they will make two circuits including climbs, abseiling and ascending. Athletes will face climb of 2 and 3 degrees, but to ensure safety all the activities will only take place in daylight and good weather.

If starts to rain they will have to stop for 1 hour and 30 minutes before they can continue and teams who arrive after 18h30 will have a 3 hour penalty.

Ecomotion Pro will also have 2 cut-offs with objective with short-course options for slower teams, making it possible for them to complete the race by the closing time of 12.00 on Saturday, November 18th.

The race will start on Sunday in the city of Resende, 261 Km from Rio de Janeiro.
