Abarth Teva Arrive - Eventually

Wladimir Togumi (SleepMonsters Brazil) / 17.11.2006See All Event Posts Follow Event
Abarth Teva from Spain, arrived at 07h20 in Paraty after facing difficult conditions on the final paddling stage.

They were expected to arrive last night, but the tide was so strong they could not make any progresss.

Fran Lopez was the strongest on the team and did make it to finish line, but his teamates had been pulled backwards and he crossed the line alone and had to wait for them. Antonio de La Rosa said that they lost four hours trying to go forward, and sometimes lost direction as well.

Vivo Atenah Salomon, the first Brazilian team to complete the course, arrived about ten hours later. For the only all women team in the race it was a remarkable achievement.

“I think that we contributed well to this adventure race. We showed that we are strong and capable of competing with the men. And here is a message: \"Pay attention to womens teams, otherwise you may lose to them!, proclaimed Cristina de Carvalho, who ran to her year old son when she arrived at the finish.
