Challenge Four Adventure Race
High Temperatures in store for this year’s edition of the Challenge Four Adventure Race
Greg Yetter / 17.08.2007

For the main event the participants will begin the race with temperatures near the 95F mark and the heat will only drop 3F during the entire race. The race area is experiencing the drought that is affecting the entire southeastern US. On Friday evening we got a VERY short rainstorm that did nothing more than add humidity to the heat. With a small chance of more rain until race time portage wheels are going to be at a premium. The 3 person Coed category has 19 teams registered, while the 3 person All Male category has 17 teams one of which is in the Masters sub-division. The 2 person Coed category has 10 teams two of which are in the Masters sub-division. There are 11 2 person All Male and 1 2 person All Female teams currently registered. Five racers have entered the race in the Soloist category.
The environmental conditions are going to make proper hydration one of the most important decisions of this race. Sports drinks, think Power Aide and the like, as well as supplements such as those made by DART-nuun will be the order of the day. Nutrition for this race will have to be light and provide quick energy.
Check back for full coverage of both races and all the other festivities planned for Saturday on SleepMonsters.us.
