Many visitors to the Whitsundays never stray beyond the turquoise coast, but by restricting themselves to the shore and the islands they miss some of the most spectacular parts of this area. The recent opening of the Whitsunday Great Walk was a testament to the diverse natural beauty of this region which extends well beyond the tourist strip.
The 2007 race will visit many of the most remote and dramatic regions that are rarely glimpsed by the casual visitor to the Whitsundays. Having said all that, the event will certainly give competitors a chance to experience this area’s famous coastline and islands as well!
The course will be given at three separate stages. Competitors will only have been given stage 1 when they start the race. At the end of stage 1, teams will be given the next stage and so on. This will provide added pressure for teams and force them to make some decisions on the move. Strategy and team tactics will be stretched to the limit.
