Almost Time, But Let\'s Remember

John was involved in a tragic vehicle accident on Thursday whilst assisting with pre-event logistics for XPD. We are all deeply shocked at John’s passing and we share a heartfelt grief with John’s family, friends and all in the adventure racing community that came to know him over the years he worked and raced with us.
John was a hardy competitor at many of our events. He came 3rd in the ARQ last year and was looking forward to future successes. When not racing, he was a tireless worker and dedicated assistant at many of our other events, including XPD second edition, the ARQ series and Hells Bells.
He was instrumental in preparing for the Insomnia 24 hour MTB race, almost single handedly designing and preparing the course track, as well as the important role as the race Bunny!
John’s endless optimism and inquisitive nature always brought smiles to people that met him. We will dearly miss his genuine character. John loved the outdoors, he loved adventure and he loved being involved.
John will be missed by everyone.
John’s funeral will be held at 10am on Friday 24 Aug 07. It will be in the Chapel at St Francis Theological College, Baroona Rd Milton.
John’s family have asked that we extend their wishes for no flowers to be brought to the funeral. Many friends plan to pay tribute to John’s cycling passion by riding to the event and wearing their cycle clothing.
