Mexican Stingers Carboshotz in Paradise

It\'s the usual gridlock in Sydney, commuters getting out of the office and while I was on my way home I decided to touch base with some guys who I suspected may be moving at a lot faster pace than Sydney traffic at this time of the day.



I called up Rob Preston of Team 56, Mexican Stingers Carboshotz to get a bit of an insight into what lay ahead for this team.



It\'s a team split between states, Damon and Rob from Sydney and Kim and Josh from Melbourne. These four are a team very well credentialled with great potential to surprise some folk at this race.



I caught Rob as the team were packing and dropping off gear boxes so it was great to have a quick talk about how things were looking for the team.



I asked Rob how the team felt, \"We are looking forward to 2 nice days kayaking, and hope the weather is friendly\", he said. Sounds good to me I thought! I wouldn\'t mind 2 days paddling around the islands ... however that\'s the tip of the iceberg.



When asked how he thought the first few days would pan out Robs\' comment was; \"The first day won\'t seperate the teams much, the crux will be a 20-50hr MTB leg later in the course.\" I wished the team all the best and hoped they would be home well short of the 10 days allowed.



The team have been very happy with their preparation coming into this and were looking forward to starting in the morning.
