A difficult time out on the last Leg 12 trek had team 56 Mexican Stingers Carboshotz giving everything they had left to attempt to regain their earlier lead. With more rest under their belts, team 2 Orionhealth.com were very solid on the final cycle leg and held their lead they into Airlie Beach, charging in 42 minutes ahead and claiming XPD 2007 victory.
In just over 5 days, these teams covered roughly 800 km trekking, mountain biking and kayaking at maximum speed, relying on precise navigation and with next to no sleep, making for a very close and exciting finish this afternoon. Neither team had taken any time penalties and both had been spot on with their navigation, however team 2 Orionhealth.com agreed to having taken more time to sleep and rest during the race.
Currently team 20 Adrenalin Adventure TerraX are going strong in third place and assuming they maintain their position and travel well through the final trek Leg 12, are expected to finish sometime on Tuesday.
