Dream Raid 2007 - New Caledonia
Rumours abound about the what the route will be
01.11.2007

The word is out that some hiking legs will take up to 25 hours. That’s tough after 3 days racing. Now only a few days from the start of competition, the tension is mounting. Teams are imagining the course and trying to sniff out any secrets from the race organization. On Monday the 5th of November, 72 adventure racers from 4 different continents will be ready to start the Dream Raid Grands Hôtels de Nouvelle Calédonie. It is the only long distance“Raid (adventure Race), of international standard on our soil.
After all these years, Dream Raid Grands Hôtels de Nouvelle Calédonie has become internationally renowned, a challenge to try to win (or even just participate in) for many teams.
“We have come from France to engrave this mystical adventure in our sporting achievements tells us Sébastien Camus, first place at the “la Boliviana 2006, who is a member of team Casino Royale Eider Mercantour. Sebastien will have to hike, run, paddle….push his limits!
Rumour has it that you may even have to swim, with your bike in hand!
The Dream Raid Grands Hôtels de Nouvelle Calédonie, is an orienteering multi-sport event for mixed-sex teams of four. The clock starts ticking on the starting line. The competition will stop only after four to five days of intense effort, as each team crosses the finish line, about 350 km down the track.
OK we will stop the rumours, “If the competitors don’t lose themselves, if they take the most direct route the course will be 349.1 km tells us Jeannot Clair, course designer. But we bet you that more than one team will surpass 400 km in their quest for pure adventure.
Our next race report will tell you about the teams that are embarking on this adventure.
