Ecuadorian team Tatoo Energizer takes first place

After a very cold and long night, all the teams that were still competing arrived at PC 16, located within the Cayambe-Coca Natural Reserve, one of Ecuadors` best preserved natural areas.
All the teams of the adventure category arrived from PC 11 to this point by car, but the teams of the elite category had the privilege to arrive here after hiking around Antisana volcano and then biking through the beautiful high lands of Papallacta. All the adventure teams were awoken before sunrise in order to begin the last hiking section of the race, which started at an altitude of 3800 m and descended to an altitude of 1700 m.
After the long descent, teams arrived to the rope section, where a rappelling wall and other rope activities waited for them. Most of the teams enjoyed this section very much. After the ropes section, teams biked a small time to the end of the race.
By 21:00, 3-11-2007, all but four teams had arrived to the end point. The first two teams in were from Ecuador: Team # 4, Tatoo Energizer was the winner, arriving four hours earlier than team # 5, Asertec Nike Orbea. Team Quattro de Schick Argentina was the third team in, and one of the few teams who completed the entire course.
