Rob / 11.06.2003

Raid Gauloises issued this statement through their web site:
The 12th edition of the Raid Gauloises, held this year in Kyrgyzstan, is in mourning. Tuesday afternoon, 10th June 2003, Dominique Robert, 46 years old and a member of the French team ENDURANCE-AGF, met with a tragic accident when the canoe in which she was travelling became entangled in some branches following a rapid and totally unexpected rise in the water level of the river.
Despite the immediate intervention of safety teams present on the river, she was unable to be revived. The race was instantly brought to a halt. It will begin again on Wednesday, 11th June 2003 from the shores of Lake Issyk Kul.
Dominique Robert, married with two children, was a regular participant in the Raid Gauloises. The Raid Gauloises organisation wishes to express it\'s profound sympathy and immense sorrow and sends it\'s condolences to the family and all those who knew and loved Dominique.
All other teams participating in the race reached the shores of Lake Issyk Kul during the course of the night and wish to take this opportunity to communicate their well being to all their families and friends and to inform them that there is absolutely no cause for concern.
