Camel Concerns Force Rethink
Chris Archer / 12.12.2007
Difficulties experienced by most teams during the 40km “caravan Section C led the organisation to investigate all the aspects of the day’s proceedings. The first teams still in the ranking arrived at about 17:30 and ADCO BUFF COOLMAX (ESP) was clearly the fastest. However, most teams hadn’t completed the entire course, opting to “short circuit certain bonus CPs.
“Everything went well with the camel except at the beginning when it tried to run off ... Benjamin Midena of ADCO BUFF COOLMAZ revealed, “but Jukka, found a new vocation and was well up to the task, making the right choices for us and the camel.
Eventually, as the day progressed, it was clear that the large majority of teams hadn’t been able to find the right “formula to get their dromedary moving and the organisation, after deliberating for several hours, decided to consider the section as un-timed, meaning all times on this section will be considered as transition times and not be taken into account when calculating the ranking.
Because of the delay engendered by the camel/trek Section C, the start of the MTB Section D tomorrow morning will be delayed until 09:00 and the teams will race over a reduced course of 54km.
