The first National Championship in Kürtün in July 13/14 2007, has been a breakthrough in the short history of Turkish Adventure Racing. This year with the added facet of competitors all around the world, the race became the first International Adventure Race in Turkey, which is another breakthrough. The race both as a national and international competition also has brought a new dimension to the city of Gümüþhane and the province of Kürtün.

The race which was sponsored by the Governorship of Gümüþhane and the District Administration of Kürtün also supported by Hardline Nutrition, Trek, Yelkenci Digital, Kanyon Outerwear and �zTV, again, organized by Team Touareg Turk .

Evening, 20th of July 2008, 18:00… The organization’s bus that carries the teams and the truck to carry the racing equipment has departed from Istanbul.

Afternoon, 21st of July 2008, 14:00… The bus and the truck has arrived to Kürtün. The teams and the organization’s personnel have settled in Aydýn Doðan hall of residence in Kürtün. The teams rested a while and then put their bikes together, before dinner. After dinner Camracers, the team from UK and Grasshoppers, the team from Poland joined the camp.

July 22nd , whole day: Teams completed their registration. Technical and equipment checks are done. Race bibs and maps are handed out and the race track has been explained to the racers…

July 23rd 2008, 16:10: Just before the start, the racers with the locals did the vivid folk dance (Horon), music was provided kindly by the Kürtün District Administration. This was a good deal of warm up for the racers.

After the dance, the race has officially started. However, David Stiles and Jason Lane, who has been sick for the last couple of days, sadly had to leave, promising to come next year to enjoy the breath taking nature of Gümüþhane
