Czech Adventure Race 2008
The race goes to the mountains for the first time
19.08.2008

“The race will be on the ground, under the ground and even above it, says race director Tomas Vanek. “Beyond that the race will go on the water and, for poor paddlers, possibly even under the water, he smiles. Tomas is member of the most experienced Czech adventure racing team AlpinePro/Nutrend winner of Adventure Race Slovenia 2008 and 9th from ARWC 2006.
The race will take part in mountains in the north-east Bohemia, race headquarters will be on the Pastviny lake. “It is the first time that we do race in the mountains. That will be the main difference from the previous years, “says Tomas. The race will start on Wednesday August 27. The winning team is expected to cross the finish line on Friday morning; time limit is on Saturday noon.
Teams can expect 110 km of trekking, 170 km on mountain bikes, 70 km on skates and 15 km of paddling. Everything is broken to the shorter stages. “We want the race to be varied without long boring stages where nothing happens. We try to change sports as often as possible, and where that is not possible we add special tasks, says Tomas. One of the special tasks will be the rope center with more than 50 obstacles high above the ground and two 100 meters-long rope ways. “Teams will spend more than hour above the ground. In other special task teams will run almost 1 kilometer-long orienteering under the ground.
