Spa Country, and Snow welcomes Teva

Spa country, north west of Melbourne played host to round 3 of the Teva Adventure Series in Melbourne and as we’ve discovered those Victorians are ‘Hard Core’ when it comes to adventure. Through snow and rain, those white smiles just kept beaming through mud splattered faces on the finish line as teams took on the challenge of an adventure race with a difference!

Beautiful Jubilee Lake set the back drop for the event and as the snow started to fall at registration we knew ‘adventure’ was the order of the day!

The Teva Adventure Series is an event with a difference. Participants only find out the exact race location 5 days before the event and the course is revealed just one hour before the start. Strategy and planning play a part in the outcome as well as a team’s physical fitness, mountain biking ability and navigational skills.

With only one hour to plan, teams disappeared into the warmth of cars and Race HQ fell eerily quiet as most teams strategised and set their plans for the day!

The event started with the first twist of the day as Teams were set the task of Men’s Health International Rescue. It was here that team captain’s found out if they really had chosen the right team mates. Most were pleasantly surprised, some were left wondering.

For the first time this year we saw teams working together, which meant they were able to rescue their team captains much faster than in previous events, and again it was the girl’s teams who were away first!
