Czech Adventure Race 2008
Day 3: Team Omjakon of Finland has won Czech Adventure Race 2008

Finland’s team Omjakon was securely in the lead and continued its machine-like performance. Although they made some mistakes on the go, none of them was critical. The Finns were first to cross the finish line at 4:22.
Big fight was between the second and third teams: Tilak/OpavaNet and Internet Billboard changed their positions at almost every checkpoint. Internet Billboard was more fresh than Tilak (which raced with two girls), but they were making some big mistakes in the navigation. They always arrived to the checkpoint area earlier, but they spent so much time looking for it, that Tilak arrived and joined them in the search. Internet Billboard was only able to get a ten minutes lead on the last checkpoint before the transition area, so they arrived back to the Pastviny camp ahead of Tilak.
The canoeing stage followed. But the very first checkpoint was only ten minutes of paddling from the TA. It was a dam of the lake and teams had to descend it on the rope and ascend back. It took an hour for both teams (the very same time as team Omjakon took). This checkpoint was the deciding point: As Tilak’s member’s saw Internet Billboarders leaving first, they resigned from the battle for second place, and contented themselves with the third.
