Final Bike Ride Just Keeps on Going!

Orion stopped at the 'Scenic' Town Trading Post checkpoint for a couple of hours (conveniently around dinnertime!), presumably to get a break from the wind and refuel. This trading post will no doubt be doing a roaring trade in the next few days as hordes of tired and hungry teams come through on both the final trek and final bike ride.
Progress on the bikes has been much much slower than predicted by the race organisers. The local forecast has the wind dropping slightly from midnight, so lets hope that helps speed them on their way to Rapid City!
Racing for silver, Neil Jones and his team Merrell-Zanfel are finishing very strongly, reaching the start of the bike ride just before 11pm.They are now off on the bikes, joining Orion on the final leg some 9 hours in arrears. Salomon Crested Butte arrived in the Old Badlands Road transition hot on their heels at midnight, so both these teams will be pushing hard in this final leg in a battle for second place.
Further back, it appears that the trek section between CP34 and Sage Creek Pass is proving a challenge to every team so far, poor team iMoat appear to be doing a repeat of their navigation mishap earlier in the race on the first bike leg where they ended up doing a long 'extra loop'. They are currently at least 3km 'off course' and still moving in the wrong direction! <br><br>
