Dust, sweat and tears. The arrival of team Quasar Lontra, winners of Ecomotion/Pro 2009, had plenty of emotion to crown a perfect race, which required technical skill and courage from the 31 teams with athletes from nine nationalities.

It was a race that was close until the final kilometers with Adventure Camp Repelex and the Oskalunga International Team, placing second and third respectively.

The winning quartet of Rafael Campos, Erasmo Cardoso, Rodrigo de Souza and Tessa Roorda finished the race after 470km and four days of competition up and down the Espinhaço and Serra do Cipo in landscapes that took the breath of the athletes.

Since 2004 a Brazilian team had not won Ecomotion/Pro, which is part of AR World Series. With thus result, Quasar Lontra won an entry for the World Championships in 2010 and the major part of the the U.S. $30 thousand in prize money.

"There was a time that we could not resist and stopped to take a photograph", said Erasmo Cardoso (aka Xiquito) who recalled his first participation in Ecomotion to help summarize the significance of the conquest on Thursday afternoon. "In 2004, I competed in Team Terra Brasil and completed the race within the cut-off. When I saw Quasar Lontra on the podium I thought to myself that one day I wanted to be there too. Now, thanks to these crazy people I'm here," celebrated the athlete

The perseverance of Xiquito infected even the captain Rafael Campos. One of the most respected and experienced adventure racers from Brazil,
Rafael started the season determined to retire after 11 years competing at a high level: "But Xiquito not let me. He said I could only stop in the season when we won the tour Adventure Camp, Brazil Wild Extreme and Ecomotion," recalled Raphael, who achieved the feat this year, leading his team to win three of the most traditional races of the country.
