Huairasinchi’s Registration Has Started

Registration started early today, Friday February 12th at 7am at the Autódromo by the Yahuarcocha Lake and will continue until 3pm. Its main sponsors Chevrolet and Ecuador Tourism decorated the site last night and early this morning, this, along with the beautiful scenery and sunlight has created a great atmosphere.
Each team was randomly assigned a specific hour for the registration. So far, 14 teams have arrived; they have received the race kit, gifts from sponsors; Andes 6000, water from Vivant, food from Toscana, and accident certificates from Seguros Oriente. Each team needs to do a checkup of the mandatory gear (trekking, cycling and rowing), of the rope system (equipment and skills) and of the security and first aid kits. All of them need to pass the orientation test by demonstrating their knowledge on how to use the GPS, and seal their radios, GPS and cell phone as the use of these items is prohibited except in case of emergencies. This gear and skill checkup is very meticulous given that the team’s security depends on it and on their knowledge of how to use it.
The rest of the route will be revealed this afternoon from 5pm to 8pm during the technical congress which will be held in the Ibarra Municipality. Blue skies, and completely clear Imbabura and Cotacachi Volcanoes have greeted the teams in the sunny Imbabura Province.
