As the race progresses, some teams are doing very well, others are struggling and others have had to abandon the race altogether; out of the 43 teams 8 are no longer in the running. These are; Team Wegner-Sigg, Metropolitan Touring-Equividia, Americantruck, Lippi, Kinross, Quinde ÑÑ, Fybeca Cordillera Edelrid and Buff Thermocool. The team Buff Thermocool was ranking 2nd in its category but team member Jukka Pinola suffered an injury while trekking. Having been treated immediately by paramedics, he is doing well but is unable to continue racing. The other teams that have dropped out have done so mainly because of exhaustion. All the members of the retired teams are doing well. <br /><br />

On the other hand, other teams continue their hard work towards the final. Teams Ecuador Chevrolet, Safety Smart Wear and Bosi International are leading in the elite category with team Ecuador Chevrolet having been the first to arrive and pass PC 12. In the Adventure category, the leading teams are; Ziro, Digital Photo Express- RFS Constructora and Global Organics, and in the Male Adventure category they are; Club Deportista Paracaidistas 1, Club Deportista Paracaidistas 2 and Banco del Pichincha – USFQ. <br /><br />

The second day has continued once again with a beautiful clear day that accentuates the beauty of the Ecuadorian landscape. Despite the problems such as car trouble and retiring teams, the sense of excitement and adventure is still present in all the competitors, their support crews and the Huairasinchi organization teams. With the end coming closer, the race is sure to become harder and more taxing for the competitors. The pressure continues but so does the resistance and commitment from the teams towards their goals. <br />
