The Third Day At Huairasinchi Begins

It was a difficult night for the teams, misty and cold. The teams in the elite category had a tough trek to complete which led them through the ´paramo de Frailejones´; an area 3800m high where orientation is very difficult. On the other hand, support crews had an easier night than the last as they were able to arrive at all transition zones in plenty of time to receive their teams.
At the moment the leading elite teams are between PC´s 19 and 20 and will then arrive at Yahuarcocha Lake where they will have to complete a circuit before racing towards the finish line.
The teams in the adventure category are closer to the finish line. Their estimated time of arrival is around 1 and a half hours and their ranking is very difficult to determine as they have been arriving at PC´s with only a few minutes difference.
At the moment, the retired teams are; Buff Thermocool, Lippi, Team Wegner-Sigg, Fybeca Cordillera Edelrid, Americantruck, Ziró, Kinross, 220V and Cayambe Extremo. These teams have abandoned mainly because of extreme tiredness and due to some injuries to some team members. However, all teams are doing well.
