Wet and cold hamper teams struggling to finish course
Michael McMahon / 22.08.2010

Overnight there have been a few teams that have been short coursed including teams PC Dictation, Hazardous materials and Real Discovery from Japan.
As experienced adventure racers would know, navigation becomes exponentially difficult the longer you have been out on the course with little or no sleep. No doubt there have been many family and friends tracking teams online as they move in circles around controls on the course, trying to find things in the dark.
This year's race has featured regular compulsory gear checks and this has caught a few teams out, resulting in many teams (particularly at the top end of the field) receiving time penalties. This may cause some minor changes to the official rankings as final positions are sorted out.
For now though, we are about to welcome a local course team, Buggered if I know cross the finish line. They have come in 12th overall in the full course in a time of 49 hours 33 minutes and are now being greeted by a great gathering of friends and supporters.
