Lico Takes Four Minutes Off of the Leaders
Rob Howard / 20.11.2010

“It was an unforgettable day for me and my team on the stage I consider to be the queen of stages, not only for it’s long climb but also the steep descent, which you must run with much care as you could easily crash the bike or fall.
Leao Pinto made it to the finish line in second place just over a minute after the winner. “The stage was really hard for me as for the two first days I haven’t generated a steady pace. Today’s strategy was to lose as little time as possible. Even though he was unable to win the race, he did well after a flat tyre, three kilometres into the stage. “It was a tough stage, he said, “I felt quite strong at the end of the day even though I had a flat after checkpoint 1.
‘Lico’ Ram,irex came in the finish line at 3h:46m:15s, four minutes away from the leaders and more importantly 4 minutes ahead of Alex Grant and Ben Sonntag, who still lead the general classification after their strong performance on stage one. ‘Lico’ is now in third place in the GC. Just a minute behind second placed Grant and 4 minutes down on the leader, Sonntag. Anything could happen on the final day!
Sonntag remains in first place overall with a total time of 13h:47m:56s. “I did not have the best of luck today, he said, “mostly at the ascent where I suffered much with the cold, yet I feel happy even though I know my leader’s jersey is in risk.
Ángela Parra continued her domination of the women’s race, finishing in 24th place overall in 04.53.26 and extending her lead in the Women’s G.C. to 19 minutes from Louise Kobin.
The last stage starts at 7a.m. on Saturday and covers 101 kilometres which will the competitors to the finish at Playa Bonita, Limón.
