Riders were treated, however, to some of the most spectacular scenery of the race - they climbed mountains, forged rivers, and passed through beautiful valleys, dotted with traditional gher houses of the Mongolian nomads.
A challenge both physical and mental for racers, but especially for Canadian Corey Wallace, the current leader, and Italian Marzio Deho, 2010 MBC Champion. They were fighting for both the stage win and for the overall leader classification.
Both riders flew past the refill station at 80km shortly before Wallace launched his first attack. Wallace rode in front of Deho opening a 40 second lead. At the third hill climb bonus, Deho attacked but Wallace responded. At the finish line it was Wallace with his second stage win. Deho finished second, with Australian Rohin Adams a distant third.
Riders are camped in a beautiful, alpine valley, covered in wildflowers. They will need their rest as tomorrow is the Queen´s Stage.
