Gore-Tex Trans Rockies Run 2011
TransRockies Run Gets Set to Go
News Release / 22.08.2011

Registration opened at noon MDT and runners are picking up their race kits and amazing bags of sponsor swag in preparation for tomorrow's first stage, a 20.8 mile run through the high desert hills East of Buena Vista to the finish line at Railway Bridge.
This year's GORE-TEXâ„¢ TransRockies Run will be the biggest ever with 260 runners from 13 different countries taking on the six day running challenge-that's an increase of 26% over 2010. They'll be joined by another 100 runners taking part in the 3-day RUN3 event meaning that 360 runners will be stepping to the line for the 9am start on Sunday morning.
It's been a hot summer in the mountains and that normally means a chance of afternoon thunderstorms and rain, and tomorrow's forecast calls for just that. It's a low percentage chance of rain and the 9am start means that most runners will be off course long before the threat of rain arrives. (And, of course, the TransRockies Run is sponsored by GORE-TEX who can suggest some incredible outwear solutions for any kind of inclement weather!)
