Ready to Run the Gore-Tex Trans Rockies

One day to go to the start of the 6th annual GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run and beautiful Buena Vista, CO is bustling with runners eager to hit the trail.

The race will be welcoming over 350 trail striders along with their friends, family and over 100 enthusiastic staff and volunteers.

Registration is open and the runners are prepping for the Stage 1 run from Buena Vista to the finish line 20.9 miles and 2550 feet of elevation gain away at Railway Bridge.

It’s been a hot smoky summer in the mountains and there are some fast folks entered who are ready to burn up the trails. There's some cash on the line for these guys and gals so they'll be pushing hard to reach the finish line first every day.  

Among the elite trail runners currently entered are:    

• Max King: 2010 Open Men's Champion.   
• Michelle Barton: 2007 Women's Open Champion and six time competitor.  
• Justin Ricks: 2010 and 2011 RUN3 winner.   
• Bernie Boettcher: La Sportiva Mountain Running Team 
• Deb Davies: 2011 RUN3 winner.   
• Jeff and Katie Caba, 2011 winners of 80+ Mixed Division.   
• Robert Steele: Placed 3rd in 80+ men in 2008-2009. 
• Joe Bob Armstrong: Placed 3rd in 2007 and 2nd in 2008 in 80+ men  
• Mark Thurston, placed 3rd in 2011, placed 2nd 2010, and placed 2nd in 2009 80+ men   
• Sean Meissner, Montrail Team member.   
• Alicia Shay, sponsored Saucony Runner 
• Michael Smith and Ron Krar, 2009 Open Mixed Division winners.   
• Jorge Maravilla, winner of the 2011 Whiskeytown 50K.   
• Mario Mendoza, top, up-and-coming ultrarunner.

Of course, for most, the GORE-TEX TransRockies Run isn't about winning. It's summer camp for adults!
