Cambodia: The Ancient Khmer Path
An interview with the General Manager and Course Director
Jacqueline Windh / 19.11.2012

Cambodia: The Ancient Khmer Path starts this week. To get a feeling about this new, 6-day staged race, I interviewed Stefan Betzelt, Founder and General Manager of GlobalLimits, and Course Director Chuck Walker.
Stefan and Chuck first met when they ran side-by-side for a week in Namibia in 2009. Stefan, after founding his company GlobalLimits in 2011, was impressed with Chuck’s experience as Course Director that he brought him on board to work on Cambodia.
JW: Why Cambodia?
Stefan: To get the highest attention you need to find outstanding locations. I do not need to be the 35th organizer who is arranging a race in China or the Sahara. I tried to find location that are untouched so far. Beside an international halfmarathon there is no other running event in Cambodia. This country with its amazing landscape and ancient culture is a perfect environment for runners who wants to combine a cultural trip with a competitive race.
JW: Stefan, are you still running these days?
Stefan: I recently had two surgeries on my toes, which hinders any serious training right now. The advantage is, I have now more time to take care of GlobalLimits. So currently I have let my running go. But once my injury is fully recovered I will be back on trails again.
