Today the runners of the ETR 2012 have taken out full of expectation for the promised magnificent panorama of mountains to be enjoyed on having completed the stage. But previously, they had to run this 5th stage of 16 km. between Monjo and Tyangboche, starting from 2790 m. and climbing until near 4000 m.. The Organization had changed the first edition layout in order that the brave runners could obtain a well-deserved visual reward at the end of today’s effort.

On the sporting side, the stage is back to entail changes in the overall standings. Runner Phudorjee Lama Sherpa has remained at all times with Agustí Roc (LURBEL-SALOMON), but when they reached the uphill maintained from CP2 to the finish line, the Nepalese runner, better accustomed to the height, has forced a pace that has allowed him to recover the leadership and reach the finish line with an advantage of 6:41 on Agustí Roc (LURBEL-SALOMON), who is second in the provisional standings, while the constant Jordi Aubeso (SAN MIGUEL 0,0) remains in the third position.

Phudorjee Lama Sherpa is provisional leader with an advantage of only 4:03 over second placed. Considering one stage is still to be run, nothing is definitive yet and excitement will continue until the very end.

In the women category there are changes too. The second classified, Marta Prat (COLLBAIX-EL CELLER DEL MOLÍ), has decided to retire, as same as the Brazilian runner Bianca Bocage. Núria Picas (BUFF-COMPRESSPORT) has won the stage again, but this time she said: "I have run more relaxed trying to enjoy the scenery." Behind her, Mireia Ruiz (AE ICARIA) and Margalida Ramon have completed the podium places.

Nevertheless, each and every one of those who have crossed the Tyangboche finish line today have felt rewarded for their effort and they will keep in mind an extraordinary vision that will last for the rest of their days.

In front of them: the south wall of the Lhotse, Everest, Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Tanserkhu and Tawoche … In fact, the EVEREST TRAIL RACE provides participants with wonderful surprises like this.

For tomorrow, the last stage of the second edition of the ETR 2012, along 29,5 km that separates Tyangboche from Lukla, with 5243 m. of accumulated elevation. From here we wish good luck to all participants who will be running tomorrow to the very end of the EVEREST TRAIL RACE 2012.
