Munich, July 11, 2013 – 1,000 mountain bikers from more than 35 countries will compete in the 16th edition of the Craft BIKE Transalp powered by Sigma kicking off next Saturday, July 13. With the starting gun fired at 9 AM at the rail station in Mittenwald, the field featuring a total of 500 teams of two will tackle 675.98 km and 20,242 metres in elevation to Riva del Garda.

The most teams have registered for the men category (more than 200). About 150 duos will battle in the master category (combined age of both racers 80+) while 65 pedal in the mixed class. In addition, about 60 grand master teams (combined age of both racers 100+) as well as some 15 women teams will also give all they have.

The most participants are from Germany (324 starters) while also Italians (91), Dutch (77), Swiss (74) and Austrian (65) racers are high in numbers. However, it's the mountain bikers from Australia, Brazil, Iceland, Ukraine, Taiwan, Dominican Republic and Mauritius who ensure the international flair of this classic race across the main chain of the Alps.
