Firework 500 Swim
Swim to Your Firework Display
News Release / 10.11.2013

80 brave swimmers took on the cooling waters of Capernwray this week in the MyTriEvents “FireWorks 500” swim. The water temperature of 11.5oC was bracing for some as they donned neoprene hats and socks. While others swam the full length in just swim suits!
The ladies certainly outperformed the men with regards to times. First to exit the water was SleekerSwimmer Christine Johnson in a time of 7:12:05 just 7 seconds away from her previous time set at the “Stig Challenge Evening “ back in the summer. Following Christine was first male, Joe Multon in a time of 7:36:70 beating his “Stig” time by 4 seconds. A battle exiting the water was won by Natasha Newell with Kerry Oldfield just being squeezed into fourth position.
Other swimmers took a more leisurely swim enjoying the night swim and chat between excited swimmers.
Once all swimmers were safely out of the water Capernwray Dive Centre provided the all-important firework display.
Thanks to the support team including paddlers and spectators. See you all next year.
