The Nepalese runner Upendra Sunuwar (Adeaventura‐Annapurna Treks) and the Brazilian runner Fernanda Maciel (The North Face‐Compressport) team Belleza Pura, reinforce their leadership after having run the third stage of the Everest Trail Race 2013, with a spectacular finish in Kharikhola.
The longest stage of this edition, with a great part in descent but with a final portion of 4 kilometers in a steep ascent, basically following stairs, has been won by the Nepalese runner Sunuwar with a fantastic time of 4 hours 16 minutes and 5 seconds.
Sunuwar crossed the finish line with nearly one hour (56 minutes and 35 seconds) of advantage over the Catalan runner Lluís Puig (Nabes Team) Team Cellera Mountain Runners, who has made a very good stage.
Fernanda Maciel crossed the finish line with the third fastest time, nearly 25 minutes ahead of her main rival in the womens race, the Nepalese Yangdi Lama Sherpa.
In the overall standings, Sunuwar leads over his pursuers with much advantage. In second place of overall standings is Fernanda Maciel, 2 hours, 51 minutes and 23 seconds behind.
Some runners are locked in a struggle for the second place of the men's overall standings: Paco Salas (Trivici Team Banyeres), Lluís Puig (Nabes Team), Ismael Dris (PEÑA Ceutí 100 Km.) and Andreas Schambeck (RUN WILD SPORTS) with less than half an hour gap.
Fernanda Maciel leads the female qualification table, with more than one hour of advantage over Yangdi Lama Sherpa. The American runner Shiri Leventhal remains the third.
The fourth stage will be from Kharihola to Phakding, covering 28 kilometers, with over 4000 meters of total altitude gain.
