News Release / 10.11.2013

Stage 4. Kharikhola ‐ Phakding 28 Km. 4000 M. Aprox. Of Total Altitude Gain
Upendra Sunuwar and Fernanda Maciel continue to dominate the overall standings of the Everest Trail Race after having finished the fourth stage.
It was a stage of 28 kilometers between Kharikhola and Phakding , with a steep ascent at the
beginning and a leg‐breaking path until the finish line.
Again, the Nepali runner Sunuwar made an extraordinary time of 3 hours, 29 minutes and 32 seconds, with almost 52 minutes less than the second‐placed German Andreas Schambeck (Run Wild Sports) team Franconia Vertical Team.
Lluís Puig (Nabes Team) crossed the finish line in third and Paco Salas (Team Trivici Banyeres) as the fourth.
In male overall, Sunuwar maintains a comfortable leader over his pursuers. There is much competition for second place where Lluís Puig is only six seconds ahead of the third placed Paco Salas.
In the women’s race, Fernanda Maciel continues to dominate, with excellent times (and she is second in the overall standing). She has more than two hours of advantage over second classified, the Nepalese Yangdi Lama, and more than three hours advantage over the third, the American Shiri Leventhal.
The fifth and penultimate stage will be the shortest of the third edition of the Everest Trail
Race. They will be 20 kilometers between Phakding and Tyangboche with two major climbs: up to Namche Bazaar and the last kilometers until reaching the finish line in Tyangboche.
