The local teams Aerodiva, Toyota Adventure and Banano de Costa Rica are having a great race at the Adventure Race World Championship Costa Rica 2013.
Aerodiva (Pablo Leiva, Ivannia Fonseca, Marco Méndez and Luis Miguel Sojo) were the first local team to arrive to San Gerardo de Rivas (transition 5), after a 101km biking section.
Team Toyota finished the biking section at 3:08 am. Mélida Barbee, Eric Cano, Gerhard Linner and Randall “Chino” Solano had a great time during the first sections of the race.
“We feel great, we have had a great navigation. The biking section wasn’t a surprise, we have done hills similar to this, it’s not new for us and the climate was ok,” said Mélida Barbee, Toyota’s Captain.
Both teams are on the top 20 of the race. Aerodiva is in the 15th position and Toyota is 20th.
Banano de Costa Rica – Maco - Specialized is also in the top of the race, they even were in the top ten during the first days of competition.
Local team Specialized is out of the race
Agrocontrol – Maco – Specialized had a bad night, and now are the third local team to have left the World Championship.
They had to stop when one of them had a bike accident after the Superman Tyrolese. Alexander Meza fell from his bike and they had to call the rescue team.
Now they join to Trópico Extremo and La Ruta Land Rover, these teams had left the race before Transition 1 and Transition 2 respectively.
