The Adventure Race World Championship 2013 podium is almost defined. The one, two, three will be by Seagate (New Zeland), Thule (Sweden) or Columbia Vidaraid (Spain – Brasil).
These are the only three teams that arrived to the rafting on time, before 3:00pm. The other teams will have to wait until tomorrow morning to start the water section.
“These three teams have been moving and have not slept during the trekking in order to do the rafting today. They are experienced teams and they know that the race was here. Now between the fourth and tenth teams there is more than 40 hours of difference. Only an accident would change the podium,” said Antonio de la Rosa, Race Director.
The teams just completed the rafting section and now are kayaking to Tortuguero.
“The issue here is to know whom of them would be the next World Champion. Any error or issue could define the race for one or another,” explained de la Rosa.
It is a short distance between one and another, so the race could be defined until the final kilometers. The first team will arrive to the finish line on Sunday night or Monday morning.
Teams continue on the Mountain or biking to Transition 8:
The other teams are trekking through the “Ruta de los Indios” at the Talamanca Mountains. Tonight is the last chance for the last teams to start their trekking through Chirripó. You can follow the race at live.arcostarica.com
