Swedish Armed Forces Adventure Team Become Swedish Champions Second Weekend In A Row

The Swedish Armed Forces Adventure Team has been around for three weeks. Last weekend they won the Swedish Short Course Adventure championships, and this past weekend they won the prestigious Stockholm Extreme race, which this year hosted the Swedish Championships for teams.
Stockholm Extreme lasts 24 hours with a short night stop and includes running, biking, canoeing, and a short stretch of swimrun.
The race started at Karlberg castle in central of Stockholm on Saturday with an opening prologue which the team finished in fifth place. At the first long stretch of paddling the team took a direct a grip on their competitors and created a lead of a few minutes. This lead over their opponents expanded during the evening and early night. On Sunday, the Swedish Armed Forces Adventure Team was able to paddle in as race winners by a wide margin.
“I'm really happy with our performance,” said Emil Dahlqvist. “It feels like we are on the right path. It cannot get better than winning twice in a row.”
“We're a little surprised that it has gone so well,” said John Karlsson, the team captain. “The team consists of highly qualified and experienced members, but when the team was put together we didn’t dream it could start so well. Now it feels great!”
The team consists of Johan Hasselmark, Malin Hjalmarsson, John Emil Karlsson and Dahlqvist is now focusing on autumn's major goals, the Adventure Racing World Championships in Ecuador in November.
[The new squad even had a third prestigious win in a fortnight as Daniel Hanssen was a winner in the Otillo swimrun in a new record time at the same time as his team mates were competing at Stockholm Extreme.]

About The Swedish Armed Forces Adventure Team
All the members come from the Armed Forces. The team consists of Sweden's most experienced and qualified adventure racers with a combined total of 50 years in the sport. The squad includes John Karlsson, Daniel Hansson, Johan Hasselmark, Emil Dahlqvist and Malin Hjalmarsson.
