News Release / 31.10.2014See All Event Posts Follow Event

The coming November 13th will kick off the 4th edition of the Everest Trail Race. The teams marking the course and preparing camps and the race organization are already in Nepal to complete preparations, waiting for runners' arrival, who will come to Nepal from different parts of the world next November 9th.

The race, entirely organized by a Spanish company and now in its 4th edition, will feature the participation of mountain runners from various countries among which we can find, USA, Nepal, Portugal, Mexico, United Kingdom or Australia and New Zealand.

The race will take place as in the previous three editions, in the Khumbu Valley, with the powerful presence of the great giants. Everest, Lohtse, Ama Dablam and many iconic peaks of the Himalayas.  From 13th to 18th November they will be witnesses to the passage of the runners; adventure lovers, who accept the challenge of this unique mountain race. The runners will race over more than 160 km and nearly 30,000 meters accumulated altitude gain, planned for this year 2014.

The organization has planned to make some changes in the present edition, which will give more adventure -if possible- to the test, introducing some variations on the original route that bring participants to the most inhospitable and less travelled areas. Plus there are a few surprises that will be revealed with the runners already in situ.

To participate in the race participants must pass, as in previous editions, technical and medical controls established by the organization. These controls made by doctors and race management teams are particularly demanding, in order to guarantee maximum safety.

The test, of technical self-sufficiency, has a high component of adventure, although the organization provides participants with food and drink, aid stations, medical equipment, camps, etc.

Again cut off times will be broad in order to allow elite athletes and also mountain walkers with good fitness to participate. It is not to be forgotten that the experience requires good preparation to meet the tough stages that make up this test, qualified by many participants from previous editions, as the toughest in the world.
