Tamang And Comet Win The 6th Stage And The Everest Trail Race 2014
After six stages in the Solokhumbu region of Nepal, the EVEREST TRAIL RACE 2014 ended its 4th edition with the sixth and final stage between Tyangboche and Lukla, with a distance of 29.5km. and a demanding layout once again for the participants, who have on their legs almost 30,000m. of accumulated elevation gain.
Today’s stage dropped immediately to 3300m before climbing back up to Khumjung (3800m.), followed by a long descent to Namche Bazaar -the "metropolis" of the region- and 3.5km of final uphill to the finishing line in Lukla. A beautiful and busy trail with many technical sections because the terrain changes, but with great views.
When the 24 runners who have completed the race passed under the finishing line banner it has been a very special moment with emotions released after six grueling days on the most incredible trails. Tears of joy, relief and excitement among the participants, their companions and the organization of the race.
Again, Samir Tamang (ADEAVENTURA - ANNAPURNA TREKS) has proven that he is the fittest and has won the sixth stage in the same time as Pudorjee Lama Sherpa (ADEAVENTURA - ANNAPURNA TREKS). They both lead the overall standings of this year, with Zígor Iturrieta (COMPRESSPORT), third classified in today's stage and in overall standings
In the women, Anna Comet ((DYNAFIT -. PROVETSA), has won the six stages and finished with a creditable fifth place in the overall standings after James Eacott (TRI MEETS TRAIL). Complete the women podium Kerry Sutton (TRI MEETS TRAIL) and Yangdi Lama Sherpa (ADEAVENTURA - ANNAPURNA TREKS).
The colophon will take place next Thursday 20th November, in occasion of the prize giving dinner with the assistance of all runners, accompanists, organization and representatives of the sports area of Nepal, country that has hosted again the EVEREST TRAIL RACE.
The race organization is already working for the 5th edition in November of next season. Registration is open and the aim is to increase the number of participants.
