Pepsico TransRockies Run
Stage 1 of the 2015 TransRockies Run Got Off to Ripper Start
Media Release / 12.08.2015

This year's field consists of runners from 21 countries and 36 states from the U.S. with more than 60% of the field first time TransRockies Runners.
All those tough hilly sessions, long runs and grueling prep races are in the bag and all runners are ready to put that hard work to use through the mountainous trails of Colorado.
It will be a bright and early start at 8:30AM tomorrow morning for the 20.9 mile Stage 1 and 2,500 ft of elevation gain to warm up the legs for the coming stages with an eventual finish of Stage 6 at Beaver Creek.
Stage 1 of the 2015 TransRockies Run got off to ripper of a start this morning with some serious racing taking place among the sharp end of the field.
Mother Nature was kind to the field of over 400 Runners today with some mild temps and the rain holding off on what is usually a scorching hot stage on the exposed trails starting in downtown Buena Vista on the banks of the Arkansas River and ending at Railway Road Bridge.
Rob Krar and team mate, Mike Smith set a hot pace today taking the stage win in the men's Run 6 Team with the Puzey brothers breathing down their necks a mere 2 minutes and some change back in second place. Eric Sensemen and Brian Condon rounded out the podium in 3rd in place.
Jenn Shelton and team mate Kathryn Ross burnt some rubber out there today with their opening stage win in the women's Run 6 Team race, stretching their lead to a sizable margin. The 2nd place team of Katie Snowden and Nicole Stevens will chase them up and over Hope Pass tomorrow in attempt to do some damage control.
Andrew, a New York City Native and TransRockies Run virgin was awarded the Nathan Mountain Hero of the day award as he completed his first stage of TRR2015.
Why is this amazing you might ask? Good question. TransRockies Run is his first ever trail race let alone TRR. Great way to throw yourself in the deep-end, taking on 120 Miles of tough trails and elevation gain through the Colorado Rockies.
When asked by our Operations Manager, Kevin McDonald, aka Houda why he entered the race, he casually answered, "because my Fiance' forced me to.
Great Job Andrew, good luck for the other 5 Stages and Hope Pass tomorrow!
There were many happy but tired faces at the finish line today and some hungry runners taking advantage of the spectacular meals on offer back at camp.
We look forward to tomorrow's pretty tough stage with some elevation and technical running. Check out the details below:
