To The Finish at Beaver Creek

Media Release / 17.08.2015See All Event Posts Follow Event

It was a stellar day of racing from Vail to Beaver Creek to round off 6 days and 120 miles of trail running through some of Colorado's biggest peaks, trails, communities and towns.

We were prepared for an aggressive day at the sharp end of the field as the Women's Run 6 Solo race had just 37 seconds in it for the win between Kerrie Wlad and Shannon Thompson, going into the start of this morning's sixth and final stage and they did not disappoint.

The move had to be made and it came early on as Kerrie Wlad (Boulder, USA) put the hammer down as the gun went, with Shannon Thompson (Flagstaff, USA) making a strong effort to hang onto the heels of Wlad but it was in vain as she fell off the pace with Wlad taking the stage by just over 6 minutes. In doing so she also claimed the overall win by a similar margin of 6 minutes and some change, in a total time of 18:53:13. Annie Jean (Chelsea, CAN) filled the third step of the podium with a very solid week of running.

In the Men's Run 6 Solo it was a race for Florian Neuschwander (Frankfurt, Germany) to lose as he went into today with a 6 minute lead over the chasing Brian Tinder (Flagstaff, USA). It was not to be for Tinder as the German was clinical, authoritative and commanding in his attack, as he went all out and won the stage by a massive 14 minutes and 30 seconds, shutting the door on anybody who had a glimmer of hope of winning today's stage and the 2015 title.  Neushcwander took the overall honours in a total time of 16:40:14 with Tinder in second place and Timo Meyer (Germany) in third place.

In the Men's Run 6 Team race it was Eric Senseman and Brian Condon (Flagstaff, USA) who made it a formality as they took the overall win in a total time of 17:44:38 over second place Jacob Puzey and Thomas Rivers Puzey (Flagstaff USA), while Jamie and Peter Dreher were in third place overall.

In the Women's Run 6 Team race it was Jenn Shelton and Kathryn Ross (Durango, USA) who came out tops overall in a total time of 21:36:50 with Katie Snowden and Nicole Stevens (Toronto, CAN) finishing in second place. Jessica Kuepfer and Kim Owens (Millbank, CAN) closed out the podium in third spot overall.
