Arctic Team Challenge

These adventurous athletes will race in one of the most extreme corners of our world, on terrain which will make the foundation for a challenging, exciting and memorable course. On their way the racers will encounter giant glaciers, raging rivers, huge icebergs, high peaks and deep valleys on a race well known as one of the most beautiful in the world.
SleepMonsters will be covering Arctic Team Challenge 2004 (ATC 04) - from the pre-race news and all the way to the aftermath. Our SleepMonsters reporter will post reports, pictures and results daily.
ATC 04 is a little different to other races. It’s a combination of stage and expedition racing, which spans five days of racing and although it is for teams of 4 there is no requirement for mixed gender teams. The race starts Saturday 17 July and on the first 3 days teams will return to rest and sleep at the race centre after completing the course, then they will be sent out on a two-day non-stop expedition stage for the fourth and fifth days.
This year’s disciplines will include arctic challenges in Canadian canoes, trekking in the mountains and on glaciers, and mountain biking, and as in any other adventure race team spirit, tactics and navigation will be of great importance. Only teams working well together can hope to complete this race and one of the 10 teams entered will claim the title and prize money of DKR 100.000 (approx. 10.000 GBP).
