Length: 247 km
Location: The Alps
The GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE-RUN 2016 has undergone exciting chnages but won’t break with traditions that racers have held dearly for more than a decade. In time-tested manner the race will cross the Alps on a North-south trajectory from Germany to Italy but on an entirely novel course. The new, week-long-itinerary has been shortened by a day and veers off the beeline between Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, and Brixen, South Tyrol, only to take advantage of the most panoramic and exhilarating trails along the way. The tightened course sports ever more high-alpine terrain and doesn’t skimp with fresh highlights: i.e. the first glacial traverse on record and the highest finish and start locations in its 12-year history.
All-in-all, the GORE-TEX® TRANSALPINE-RUN 2016 packs a distance of 247.3 km and 14,973 m of positive vertical (vs. 15,109 m of cumulative descent) into seven exciting days of racing.
