The SLC is a gruelling enduro-sprint in which only the very fittest will survive! The 7 mile race, which will both start and finish in Torcross near Kingsbridge in South Devon, consists of three back-to-back stages of road running, beach running and kayaking. No previous kayak experience is neccesary but may be advantageous. There will be three major events. Mens open race, Womens open race, and a team (pairs)race. As a warm up event there will also be 5 mile fun run along the line to Strete Gate and back, this will be open to people of all ages.

In recent years the future of the Slapton Line has become a source of anxiety to the people of South Devon, in particular the inhabitants of the villages between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. This event has been conceived with the aim of raising money for the slapton line fighting fund, a fund that has been set up to help safeguard the future of the coast road and all the families whose livelihoods depend so heavily upon it. After deducting any organisational costs all the proceeds generated from the event will be split between the Slapton Line Fighting Fund and the RNLI.
