Location: Southern Highlands
Our penultimate event for 2006 is the ‘Tour de Forêt’ or ‘Tour of the Forest’, comprising 2 separate races over 2 days. The forests of the Southern Highlands are well known to orienteers, but the courses should present some new and interesting challenges. Riders in each race accumulate points in the 2006 NSW MTB-O SuperSeries.
Start times:
Saturday afternoon – Arrive for a mass start at 1:30pm. All courses close at 4:00pm.
Sunday morning – Arrive for a mass start at 9:30am. All courses close at 1:00pm.
Format:
Saturday – Free order followed by line course - Each course will start with a cluster of checkpoints to be visited in ANY ORDER, with the remainder of the course a standard line course where checkpoints must be visited in the CORRECT ORDER, with the fastest time winning.
Sunday – Long and medium courses will be double loop courses, where half the competitors will start on each loop then swap over; the short course will be a line course; on all courses, all checkpoints must be visited in the CORRECT ORDER, with the fastest time winning.
Courses:
There are LONG, MEDIUM and SHORT courses each day. Distances will be relatively short on Saturday afternoon. Expect winning times below 60 minutes. Distances on Sunday will be longer.
Entry Fees:
Seniors (15 and over) - $15.00 per day or $25.00 for both days
Juniors (under 15) - $10.00 per day or $15.00 for both days
Family (1 senior + 2 juniors) - $25.00 per day or $45.00 for both days
Seniors who are not members of an orienteering club must pay an additional fee of $5 (covers both days). This includes any senior included in a family entry.
