The Black Beard is a USARA National Championship Qualifier. The winning \"3 person coed team\" will receive $400.00 from American Adventure Sports, llc & $100.00 from Zanfel toward their entry fee for USARA Nationals in November. They will also win GoLite race jackets donated by GoLite.

Grrrrr maties. Its been said that the dread pirate Black Beard is stalking the Outer Banks. You must follow the clues on ye treasure map & find Black Beards where abouts. Beware, if ye fail to solve the clues, ye may be walking the plank. GGGgggrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Shiver me timbers.

Teams of 4, 3, 2, & solo\'s will mountain bike 25 miles, coasteer 10 miles, ocean kayak (in the sound) 10 miles, orienteer 10 miles, rappel, walk the plank & swim 100 meters.

This is an unsupported, transitional race. Teams must negotiate the entire race course together. No outside assistance is permitted.

Race check in, start, finish & transition will take place at the Oceanfront South, Comfort Inn, located in Nags Head, N.C. at 8031 Old Oregon Inlet Rd. (252)441-6315

There will be a post race party Saturday night at the pub across the street form the race hotel.
